Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered the 174,000-cbm LNG carrier, Emei, to Cosco Shipping Energy Transportation and PetroChina.
The delivery ceremony for the newbuild took place on Tuesday.
According to Hudong-Zhonghua, the shipbuilder delivered the vessel nine and a half months ahead of the schedule.
Including this vessel, Hudong-Zhonghua has delivered in total six large LNG carriers this year, setting a new record for yearly LNG carrier deliveries in China.
Last month, Emei returned to Hudong-Zhonghua’s Changxing shipbuilding base after it completed both its sea and gas trials.
Hudong-Zhonghua launched this LNG carrier on May 31.
This is the fourth LNG tanker it built for Cosco Shipping and PetroChina and the first as part of the second stage of the PCI project which includes three vessels.
Hudong-Zhonghua delivered the first and the second LNG carrier under the PCI project, Shaolin and Wu Dang, last year, and the third carrier, Kun Lun, in March this year.
Hudong-Zhonghua recently also started building a new LNG carrier for the two firms.
This is the first of two 295 meters long LNG carriers the Chinese shipbuilder will build under the third stage of the Cosco Shipping-PetroChina project.
United Liquefied Gas Shipping, a joint venture in which Cosco Shipping has an 81 percent stake and partner PetroChina holds the rest, ordered these two LNG carriers in July this year.
All of the eight vessels have WinGD X-DF dual-fuel engines and GTT’s NO96 L03+ containment system.
