bp to sell US wind business

US wind

bp has announced its decision to divest its US onshore wind energy business unit, which encompasses ten operational wind farms spread across seven states.

The company holds stakes in ten operational assets, with a total gross power generation capacity of 1.7GW.

According to the company, all wind assets are connected to the grid, supplying electricity to various buyers and are managed from their Houston headquarters.

The company has projects in Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Pennsylvania and South Dakota.

The company also owns interest in a wind asset in Hawaii.

The company aims to merge its onshore renewable energy initiatives with Lightsource bp, a solar energy developer in Europe, a business bp intends to acquire entirely.

bp announced it will soon begin the sale of its wind assets.
