SJVN aims to become 50,000 MW company by 2040: CMD

SJVN’s CMD Nand Lal Sharma while addressing media persons in Shimla on Friday said that SJVN has been continuously looking for opportunities for setting up Solar, Wind, Hybrid, Floating Solar, Ocean Hybrid Platforms Pan India. These opportunities are generally in the form of Competitive Bidding processes.

SHIMLA: Public sector undertaking SJVN has set the target to become 50000 MW company by 2040 wherein therenewableportfolio will be increased manifolds. Prime MinisterNarendra Modihas set an ambitious renewable energy target that is 175 GW by 2022 and 500 GW by 2030. Aligned with the same, SJVN also aims to become a 5000 MW company by 2023 and 25000 MW by 2030.

SJVN’s CMD Nand Lal Sharma while addressing media persons in Shimla on Friday said that SJVN has been continuously looking for opportunities for setting up Solar, Wind, Hybrid, Floating Solar, Ocean Hybrid Platforms Pan India. These opportunities are generally in the form of Competitive Bidding processes. He said that even going beyond the targets, SJVN aims to become a 60,000 MW company by 2047.

He said that SJVN started out with a single project operation in one state, but today is implementing power projects in eleven states of India and has also made an international foray by implementing projects in the neighboring countries namely Nepal and Bhutan.

He said that the current installed capacity of SJVN is 2016.51 MW (comprising of 1912 MW Hydro; 97.6 MW Wind Power & 6.91 MW Solar Power) and 86 km 400 KV Transmission Line. Besides, another 217 Km from Arun-3 HEP transmission line is under construction while the company has signed agreement for transmission lines for 210 MW Luhri HEP and 66 MW Dhaulasidh HEP in Himachal Pradesh.

He said that presently, total project portfolio of SJVN is 41,028 MW and company aims to achieve the CAPEX target of Rs 8,000 crore for financial year 2022-23.
