(Wind River Reservation, WY) – The latest edition of the Northern Arapaho Newsletter released today, January 6th shared the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes agreed to let their lease with oil and gas company, Merit, expire.

Currently, they do not have plans to enter into a lease with any other company. Instead, they plan to self-manage oil and gas production at Circle Ridge Field here in Fremont County.

“They will not entertain a lease arrangement but are prepared to consider contract operators to aid their own resource development,” the newsletter stated.

Not renewing the lease or entering into any other leases is reportedly more beneficial for the Tribes, especially financially.
