Very few ship types remain without sampling the possibilities of wind power.

Rotterdam-based Anthony Veder has debuted the first gas carrier to feature wind technology. The Coral Patula, an ethylene carrier, now sports two VentoFoils from Dutch compatriot Econowind on its deck. Later this year, sister ship Coral Pearl will be equipped with two similar sails.

Björn van de Weerdhof, commercial and sustainability director at Anthony Veder, commented: “In our sustainable roadmap, we have set the ambitious target of becoming a net-zero emitter by 2035. Achieving this goal requires action today.

Anthony Veder stated in a release it anticipates fuel savings of around 5% per ship, with the potential of more than 10% in optimal wind conditions.
