Euronav sells fleet data analytics platform to ZeroNorth

FAST collects advanced high-frequency data in real-time from sensors across Euronav’s fleet. The Saverys family-controlled company has implemented the FAST platform across its fleet, using ship reporting, voyage optimisation, and ship optimisation using high-frequency data.

According to the tanker player, the system has optimised vessel and fleet utilisation, reduced fuel consumption, and lowered OPEX while having a tangible positive impact on the company’s bottom-line results.

Over time, the plan is for ZeroNorth and Euronav to integrate FAST’s data and full functionality with the ZeroNorth platform. As part of the deal, the Belgian firm will also become a customer of ZeroNorth’s full platform offering.

“By acquiring FAST and incorporating it into our existing platform, we believe we will accelerate the transformation and sustainability strategies of a large part of the global fleet,” said Pelle Sommansson, chief growth officer and EVP at ZeroNorth.

“We believe this new partnership will enable us to drive the journey to zero emissions across the shipping industry to decarbonise today and navigate tomorrow. This will make more parties aware of the transformative impact data can have on their operations,” added Patrick Declerck, operations manager at Euronav.

ZeroNorth has been expanding steadily since it started as a Maersk Tankers tech spinoff and received funds from additional investments from Cargill and growth equity firm PGS Equity. Some expansion examples include the acquisition of the online platform Prosmar Bunkering in 2022 and the software platform for marine fuel suppliers BTS in 2021. ZeroNorth announced in October last year that it would be joining forces with BW Group-backed Alpha Ori Technologies.
