ONGC official set to retire next month dies in Maharashtra pile-up

The deceased, Dhirendra Chandra Roy (59), a general manager at ONGC’s Panvel office, was travelling by an aggregator cab and was on his way to Santacruz airport. He was slated to retire next month.

NAVI MUMBAI: An official ofONGCdied in a car accident that took place on Kamothe flyover here on Sunday. His colleague, who was travelling with him, and the driver sustained injuries in the pile-up involving five vehicles. Five women who were in another car also suffered bruises.

The deceased, Dhirendra Chandra Roy (59), a general manager at ONGC’s Panvel office, was travelling by an aggregator cab and was on his way to Santacruz airport. He was slated to retire next month.

A Karnataka state bus that had broken down on the flyover was parked in the extreme right lane of the carriageway towards Mumbai. A mini truck, that was behind the bus in the same lane, swerved left to take the middle lane, grazing past two vehicles coming from behind, said police, adding that the mini truck moved ahead and had a collision with the app cab in front which rammed into a Maharashtra state Shivneri bus ahead. The two cars that were behind also hit the mini truck. The cab got crushed between the mini truck and Shivneri bus is what people in other vehicles told us, said police.
