“The rooftop solar scheme is being implemented in the state in collaboration with the Centre’s ministry of new and renewable energy. Under this scheme, if consumers install rooftop solar, the electricity bills will be reduced and consumers can also get income,” said Vijay Singhal, the chairman and managing director of MSEDCL.

Aurangabad: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has appealed to the consumers to take maximum benefit of its rooftop solar scheme.

Singhal, who held an online meeting with different elements involved in the implementation of the scheme, including 160 distribution agencies, said a subsidy is being given to domestic consumers and housing societies for the installation of rooftop solar systems.

“The domestic consumers planning to install rooftop solar plant capacity between 1 KW to 3 KW are entitled to 40 % subsidy and those in the range of 3 KW to 10 KW can get 20% subsidy. Apart from it, housing societies and resident welfare associations having installed capacity between 1 KW to 500 KW can avail 20 % subsidy of the project cost,” he said.

As a part of the scheme, of the total project cost — excluding the subsidy amount — the remaining amount of the rooftop solar plant is to be paid to the agency concerned selected by the consumers.

MSEDCL authorities said nodal officers will be appointed to solve the issues faced by the agencies at the regional level in getting a share of money assured from the government.
