ACME announces Rs 52k-crore green hydrogen, ammonia project in Tamil Nadu

The project will consist of 5,000 megawatt of solar plant, 1.5 gigawatt of the electrolyzer capacity

New Delhi:ACME Groupon Tuesday said it has signed an initial agreement with the Telangana state government to set up agreen hydrogenand green ammonia plant which would entail an investment of Rs 52,474 crore.

The project will consist of 5,000 megawatt of solar plant, 1.5 gigawatt of the electrolyzer capacity and 1.1 million tonnes of ammonia synthesis loop.

“I would like to thank the Chief Minister Mr. M K Stalin for accepting our proposal for setting up a plant in the state. This will be one of the largest plants in India and perhaps the largest in the world,” said Manoj K Upadhyay, founder and chairman, ACME Group, in the official press release.

He said that the plant will produce green hydrogen and ammonia, which would help in decarbonising the fertilizers, power, refining and steel sectors.

Upadhyay added that Tamil Nadu has solar radiation, access to ports, availability of land, and skilled resources which are key requirements for the project.

ACME is willing to work with the government to help not only to build this project but also to create an ecosystem of smaller units, said Sandeep Kashyap, chief operating officer, Acme Group.
