Espen Andersen, who is a pilot in Kalundborg, Denmark, happily admits to geeking out with Lego in his spare time. He has found a way to combine two of his great passions, and the result is a Lego model of the pilot boat he sails for DanPilot, which is headquartered in Svendborg, Denmark.

To share his passion with other seafarers and the general public who are enthusiastic about the maritime world, Andersen has registered the pilot boat for Lego Ideas, a forum where fans can submit suggestions for upcoming Lego sets. If the idea is to become a reality and be considered for a new production at Lego, the pilot boat needs to receive 10,000 votes.

“It’s a tribute to a working life at sea for many people around the world,” Andersen said as he bid to get his creation taken up by Lego.

The Lego model is a 1:25 scale model of the real pilot boat, DanPilot India, which Andersen uses every working day. To build it might take a while as it features more than 2,500 bricks.

To take Andersen’s nautical creation to shop shelves requires your help. Vote here to get him towards the 10,000 votes he needs to make this pilot boat a famous toy.

Other Danish shipping Lego creations include Maersk’s 1,516-brick Triple-E boxship (see below) .
